This statement describes RMCA’s current approach to making its website understandable, navigable and usable by as many people as reasonably possible. The statement must describe tested reality, not a generic claim of compliance.

1. Commitment

RMCA aims to make its websites, public records, publications and digital services perceivable, operable, understandable and robust for a wide range of users, including users of assistive technology. Accessibility is treated as part of evidence integrity and fair access, not as a decorative feature.

2. Scope

This statement covers public pages on https://www.rmca.org.uk, https://www.fdrc.org.uk, https://www.pscr.org.uk and https://register.rmca.org.uk. Authenticated institutional, evidence-room and case services may have separate testing and support arrangements.

3. Target standard

The production version should state the actual standard tested, ordinarily WCAG 2.2 AA where appropriate, the date and method of assessment, sample pages and known exceptions. Do not claim full compliance until supported by testing.

4. Design and content controls

  • Semantic headings, landmarks, labels and reading order.
  • Keyboard access, visible focus, skip links and non-colour status cues.
  • Sufficient contrast, scalable text and responsive layouts.
  • Plain-language summaries and accessible tables.
  • Accessible downloadable documents or an alternative format route.
  • Captions, transcripts and meaningful alternative text where media is used.
  • Error identification and recovery for forms and login.

5. Known limitations

The live statement must list genuine known issues, affected pages or documents, user impact, workaround and target remediation date. Scanned historical documents, complex legal tables or third-party embeds may require an accessible alternative.

6. Contact and enforcement

Users may request an alternative format or report a barrier through secretariat@rmca.org.uk. Include sufficient detail to locate the issue but do not send sensitive complaint evidence through this route. RMCA will acknowledge and prioritise material barriers.

7. Review

Accessibility is re-tested after significant navigation, register, form, authentication or document-template changes.
